Cruelty-free products are slowly taking over the world of beauty. Consumers are switching from makeup brands that test on animals to products with a cruelty-free logo. Hopefully, this beauty trend is one that’s here to stay.
Make the Switch to Cruelty-Free Products
1. Harsh Animal Testing
— Wianette Le Savage (@Wianette_Raven) August 28, 2017
There’s a reason why activists are strongly against animal testing. Test animals are usually treated inhumanely. Some animals endure broken bones upon handling. They are also placed in poor living conditions and are sometimes tortured, blinded, and even killed.
2. Technology Shows No Need for Animal Testing
An animal’s life should not determine ingredient safety. Technology can provide better alternatives. For example, in vitro testing has more advantages in comparison to animal testing.
3. Faster Test Results
Laboratories study the effects for 2-3 weeks during animal testing. However, results are shown faster with technology. This leads to faster production time for the companies, too. Consequently, quick results also bring less worries for consumers with skin or eye irritations.
4. Animals are Animals
Animals are living creatures. They need protection against any form of cruelty. Currently, there is a law stating that lab animals can be treated differently. At the end of the day, laboratory animals are still animals.
5. Some Countries Ban Animal Testing

The European Union is one of the frontrunners against animal testing. They’re aware of how unethical it is. They have consciously taken an effort to ban it in their country. India, South Korea, and Switzerland have also banned animal testing.
6. Keeps Skin Healthier
The skin is the largest organ of the body. It’s important to only use ingredients deemed safe. Natural and simple ingredients are less harmful to the skin.
7. Become More Informed

People are more conscious when they look at the ingredients of their favorite makeup or skincare products. As a result, they become more concerned about their wellbeing and how they are affected by the products they use.
8. Surplus of Cruelty-Free Brands
Consumers have several choices for cruelty-free brands. Find them in Sephora stores, Ulta chains, and even supermarkets. Some mainstream brands have followed suit and gone cruelty-free, as well.
9. Human Consumption is Crucial
— The Body Shop (@TheBodyShop) September 4, 2017
The more companies see consumers flocking to a cruelty-free brand, the more likely they are to change their company’s standards. People need to know they have a chance to stop animal testing. It all simply depends on what a consumer spends their hard earned dollars on.
10. Budget-Friendly Brands
Cruelty-free products don’t have to leave a dent in the wallet. Some popular brands are available in local drugstores. Examples of popular, cruelty-free brands are Pacifica, E.L.F., and Wet n Wild.
11. Cleaner Synthetic Brushes
Makeup brushes are well loved by many consumers. However, they can get dirty fast. Brushes made from animal hair tend to breed bacteria. They are also very hard to thoroughly clean because they tend to trap oil and dead skin easily.
Tip: Use synthetic brushes. They’re the more hygienic choice.
