All you have to do is place them by a window for natural sunlight.
2. Conserve Water
You probably know this phrase by heart. However, it still holds a lot of truth. Sometimes it’s the little habitual things that go a long way. So, remember to turn the tap off while brushing your teeth. Try taking shorter showers, too.
3. Don’t Overestimate Your Appetite
Reduce food waste by prepping beforehand. Start by planning the meals for the week. Check if you’ll be having friends over or if you’ll be eating out. That way, you’ll know just how much food you’ll have to make and how much can be left in storage.
Tip: Don’t buy too much in the supermarket. Sticking to your grocery list is key to avoiding temptation to overbuy.
4. Make Meatless Mondays Happen
Meat production is one of the leading problems on the Earth. Help reduce its effect by consuming less meat each week. Opt for Meatless Mondays, where you go an entire day as a vegetarian. It may take a bit of getting used to at the start, but your body and your wellness will improve as you go along.

Bring your own reusable bags whenever you go to the grocery. It’s one of the best ways to reduce the use of plastic. One trick is to leave a few cloth bags in your car. That way, you’ll always be prepared if you have a quick errand to run in the supermarket.
6. Check Your Food Labels
Choose products with “USDA organic” on their labels. The extra cents you pay for the product go a long way. USDA organic food products not only help ensure your items are pesticide-free, but also they protect the welfare of farmers and wildlife.
7. Walk More
Some of the hassles of city living involve heavy traffic jams and full parking spaces. The good thing is, you can do away with all of that by walking. Embrace the benefits of the concrete jungle and take a walk in your neighborhood. Drop by one of the cafes you’ve been saying you’d try one of these days. People-watch in one of the parks. You’ll definitely notice more things once you make a habit of walking.
8. Reduce Paper Use
The concrete jungle is a world filled with smartphones, laptops, and computers. Make use of them and help reduce the use of paper. It’s said it takes 24 trees just to make one ton of paper. So, open your notes application, send an email, and type in Microsoft Word to help save the planet.

Are you a germaphobe? Rid your home of unwanted germs with natural cleaning agents. You can even make them yourself. Start making an all purpose cleaner by mixing together 1/2 cup of vinegar, 2 tbsps of baking soda, and a few drops of essential oil. Place the mixture in a spray bottle, and you’re all set.
